​Every great beat has a beginning, and for me, it started in the heart of Nigeria. My name is Chibooplaythebeat, and I am a music producer, as well as a mixing and mastering engineer. I was born and raised right here in Lagos City, a place whose energy undoubtedly fuels my craft.

​The Roots of the Beat

​The moment I truly realized I wanted to pursue music was while watching a Disney cartoon. It wasn't just the stories; it was the sound. That was the instant I knew I wanted to create music that could move people emotionally.

​My earliest and biggest musical influences are a vibrant mix of timeless pop and classic animation: Michael Jackson, Disney music, Nickelodeon soundtracks, and various cartoon shows that featured singing and performance. Those sounds showed me the power of music to capture joy, drama, and pure feeling.

​I didn't start in the studio, though—I started with my hands. My first instrument was the drums, which gave me a solid foundation in rhythm. I then moved on to the bass guitar and, currently, I’m challenging myself by learning the saxophone to expand my musical range even further.

​The Hustle and the Calling

​Like many artists, my path to full-time music included a few detours. I worked various day jobs—as a sales boy, a teacher, and later as a social media manager. These experiences weren't a waste; they instilled in me crucial qualities like discipline and time management. But ultimately, I realized that my true passion lay in the studio, making music full-time.

​My name itself is a piece of my history. Chibooplaythebeat was actually given to me by my secondary school classmates, and it's been my identity ever since.

​The Craft: Intuition and "Another Banger"

​When I create, I work based on inspiration and emotion—I generally create as the spirit leads me. I don’t have a fixed process, and my inspiration often comes from my life experiences and movies. I especially love collaborating with artists because it brings a completely new creative energy into the work.

​Knowing when a song is truly finished is a matter of intuition and belief. I know it's done when I feel a deep sense of completeness. If I had to describe my final product, I'd simply call it: “another banger.”

​The most challenging moments, of course, are when the finances dry up—when there’s no money or no clients. But in those times, I always find strength in my passion, which is the engine that keeps me going.

​Breakthroughs and the Road Ahead

​My first major step in music was an important one: the moment I earned my first income from music production. That validation was pivotal. However, my true breakthrough project so far is my “Boy of Dreams” EP. This work not only resonated with listeners but also opened doors for me to join the prestigious Sarz Academy—a major milestone in my journey that I'm incredibly proud of.

​When my listeners put on my music, I want them to feel safe, relaxed, and happy. That emotional connection is everything.

​If I could speak to my younger self, I wouldn’t give any long lectures; I’d simply say: “Invest in yourself.” To me, success isn't about fame; it’s about doing what you love and earning from it. And when it’s all said and done, I want my legacy to be clear: that Chibooplaythebeat was a musical genius who inspired others through sound.
